Publisher of Book says I need CMYK - need asst.

Post by Mike Flipp »

The publisher where hey are printing a book says that the file I need should be in CMYK format. I found a place in PI XL that exported 4 files of the image I was working on, one was a C, then a M, then a Y then a K, so these four files all look like they have rendered the image with printing colors and shades in mind for the press. But when I asked the publisher if they wanted the four files, they said there should only be one file with a CMYK extension. Does anyone know how I can take the .UFO or a .TIFF file and make it one .CMYK file?

Hi

It seems logical that the printer could take the 4 files - C, M, Y, and K in any of the bitmap formats for color separations.

Of course, any printer could load the RGB file into Photoshop, switch mode to CMYK and save it, too. :D

MikeGunter is right the Publisher could do the work if he wanted to or knew how!

Higher end Graphic Programs create one CMYK file like Adobe.

Adobe can import CMYK splits and combines them, but with Ulead you may have a file icompatibility problem, depending on which version of Adobe and PI you or the Publisher is working with.

Have had the same problem with my Publisher, Idiots!
