DX2 VideoStudio 9 SE and Dual Layer DVD burners

Post by Archer »

My plextor px-712A single layer DVD burner has died. I need to replace it with a Dual Layer. Does anyone know if VideoStudio 9 SE will work with 8.5 gb media, or does it only recognize single layer dvds?

Thanks,

Dave

P.S. Can anyone recommend a DL burner, I'm thinking I'm done with Plextor at this point.

Unless your VideoStudio specifically says 'Version 9 SE DVD' and not just '9 SE' . Then it will almost certainly NOT burn any DVDs .

If you have the full (not SE) version 9 then yes it will recognise dual layer DVDs providing you select that in the 'Create Disc' option.

I don't have a DL burner - only a single layer 'Lightscribe' - so can't recommend a decent DL burner

Thanks! I currently can burn regular dvds, I was curious if the software would recognize that I had a dual layer disc in my drive.

OK so you must have a 'DVD' - but as it is an 'SE' version there may still be a doubt - To check - open the 'Create Disc' Window and down in the very bottom left corner are two icons - one looks like a little page with writing on the other looks like a little gear wheel - click on the little page one and a 'Preferences' window will open - check the drop down at the very bottom of that preferences window and see if "DVD-8.5GB" is an option for you.
