Video image quality at the end of a transition

Post by tlow@zarpac.com »

Hi. I am a VS7 user and am having the following problem when using transitions.

- At the end of any transitions, there is 1 frame that has some degration on the image quality. Particularly around fast moving objects. Ocassionally, this affects the sound also (squeaky, popping, etc.)
- Have tried different durations but the same problem exists.
- However, this problem does not exist when using transitions on static images or photo slide shows.
- I capture videos using the highest quality settings into Mpeg 2 format straight from my Sony camcorder.

I would avoid capturing directly to MPEG2, especially with a 1.6 GHz processor without SSE2 instructions. Just for grins and giggles, try taking a short section of source video that has fast-moving objects (and which has given you trouble before), and capture it as DV AVI first, then transcode to MPEG2 using a Quality setting of 100% to maximize motion search, and see if that exhibits the same problem.
