Adding DVP
I am now working in a project which requires two clips - "a" and "b". Clip "a" is composed of a few sub-timelines. One of this sub-timelines receives clip "b" as a DVP file (a nested clip, which was then inserted into its respective main timeline). The problem is as follows: clip "a" does not recognise the changes I have meanwhile made in clip "b" and is keeping its very first version, which is no longer in the clip "b" file. I have also deleted the clip "b" DVP from the virtual clip of "a" where it needs to be and re-inserted the clip "b" DVP. The old version remains there. Why? Any help, please. I would be very grateful, even if this is has a very obvious solution and proves that I more smart enough. Thanks. (PS: my work around is to create an AVI file and insert it into clip "a" sub-timeline, but this is not what I would like to do, since I plan to transform clip "b" into a Smart Composition)
I have difficulty following what you are doing but it is clear that if you insert a DVP, changing the dvp subsequently will not follow through. Similarly, if you shorten a sub-timeline, this will not change in the main timeline, either. There are limits. The general advice is to finish editing of a sub-timeline or a DVP before inserting it in the main timeline, although minor mods of a sub-tl will be reflected. If you wish to generate a Smart Compositor file, it is best to do so as a separate and clean project, IMHO.

Thanks Devil. I appreciate that there should be limits to what technology allows. However, I am still puzzled by the fact that when I re-insert the updated version of the DVP from clip "b" in project "a" after having deleted the old version, the latter keeps appearing. This is no longer in clip "b". It seems that clip "a" keeps the link to the original DVP insertion, which certainly is an old saved file (or even back up). Very strange but I am sure that we will figure it out. Regards.
Probably because it is in the Preview files. Try deleting them.
