MediaStudio Pro 6 vs MediaStudio Pro 7
I was looking at buying V6, but I noticed that it does not support DVD authoring like V7 (please correct me if I am wrong). I have the trial version of V7. Very different to use than VideoStudio 8 (which I have). Files between Studio 8 and MediaStudio don't seem to be interchangable, or are they? Are files interchagable between MediaStudio 6,7, & DVD WorkShop 2? And do you think that MediaStudio 6, or 7 is needed, when VideoStudio 9 is coming out soon?

Why on earth would you want to buy VS 6 -- even if your could find it! But anyway, up to you. IIRC, a module or patch was produced which allowed VS 6 to burn DVDs, so you would need to ensure you got that.
AS for interchangeability of files, it depends what files you mean. If you are talking about video files in the usual formats (DV/AVI, MPEGs etc), then yes, they are all interchangeable amongst the various programs. But if you mean the project files (which in VS are *.vsp files), then I don't think they are interchangeable. In any case, they are not video files as such; they are only a file telling Video Studio (or the other programs) what videos are in the project, what has been done to them, what has been added, and where they are on the computer.

Sorry -- my fault as I did not look closely enough. But really, if you are asking about Media Studio, you would probably be better advised going to the Media Studio forum. As you realise, Media Studio is a much higher-end product than Video Studio, and much more expensive to buy, so not many people on the Video Studio forum are likely to have it and comment meaningfully on different versions of it. I personally happen to have MSP 7 (and also had MSP 6.5). Both are excellent programs, though I did not particularly like the modular nature of V 6.5. But I also have to say that for me, it is a bit like cracking a nut with a sledgehammer. For my relatively simple wants, I use VS 8 with much fewer hassles and a learning curve which is nowhere near as steep. Judgment remains out on VS 9, though it sounds as though it will certainly do everything I would ever want, save perhaps including an AC-3 module.
As for the relation between MSP and Video Workshop, yes, they work together. Workshop is the high-end production program which matches MSP. But as I said in my previous post, you need to produce a video file in MSP, not just a project file, and then you can open that video file in Workshop and process it further and burn to DVD or whatever.
