Help - Please Help - 'Insufficient Memory' message

Post by krwzmann »

Hi all. Hopefully someone can help. Whenever I try to create a video file for slideshow (just pictures / special effects / moving paths / music), the system gives me an error message at the very end of the render that says 'Insufficient Memory'. It seems to only do this when I do slideshows because so far actual movie video projects have been ok (*knocks on wood). Slideshows seem to be hit or miss. Worked just fine two days ago and now today, no matter what I do, the same project that worked earlier does not render today.

I have a Dual Core 3ghz system with 2 gigs ram. Plenty of hard drive space (about 200 gigs left). System is isolated away from the internet and any extra programs. How is it that my systems has insufficient memory? More importantly, what must I do to correct it? I have to submit this project soon. Help! Thanks!

This is almost surely your allocation of temp files to partition(s) which have insufficient space to hold your files. By default, it is the C: drive, but you can alter it in Preferences. If you use megapixel "slides", the available space can quickly be eaten up.

Hi krwzmann,

I had a similar problem a long while back with C3D. I had an adequate amount of RAM and free disk space and yet this "out of memory" message. The solution turned out to be a defrag. Give it a try... Hope it works for you.

One thing to note too that i've found out is that I am able to render out mpg slideshows but when I try to make a .wmv file, it just won't render because of the above mentioned error (insufficient memory).

I went ahead and changes the location of where my temp files would be saved from the C: to my J: instead and it seems to have worked like a charm! Thanks

If I wanted to store my temps files on my C: though, how would I change the allocation of space available on the drive? My C: has over 200gbs of free hard drive space so i'm guessing there's a setting somewhere to increase the allocation of space? Thanks again
