Question about shortcut keys

I have bought a Griffin Powermate...Pretty much a chrome volume knob on a base that also clicks....Programmable to send key commands to any program.
My question is what keys should I program to it....the one I don't know is a slider. I want the turning action to move the tape along...NOT to simply scroll the time line but to move the slider bar through the movie....I have thought of the frame by frame skipping...But think this would be to slow (I don't have the powermate yet to test) That is just Ctrl - T....moving the slider 0.01 seconds at each press. Does anyone else have a better idea? I want to do this in Project mode and not clip mode.... Thanks for the help!!

What I want to do is turn the powermate into a Jog And Shuttle for the video. That should (I believe) have a key command to control?
