Can any one tell me the dufference between VS andf MF? They both seem to do the same job. I am wondering that if I get MS, what would be the advantage of getting MF as well?

VS and MF do not do the same job, sorry.

VS is, what is called a non linear editing suite. It's used to edit video clips.

MF is a DVD authoring program. It's used to author video clips to DVD.

VS has some authoring capabilities, not as much as MF, and will allow you to create a DVD from your clips.

MF has limited editing capabilities, not as much as VS, it will give you a better menu structure for your DVDs.

When you look at the posts of regular posters on this board, you will find they use both plus a host of other programs.

Thanks very much. I now understand and will probably get both.

I downloaded the trial version of MF6 cause I wanted to see how much better it is in authoring than VS. I found almost no difference. I also looked at the tutorials on MF6 authoring and it states clearly there that there is almost no difference between the authoring modules of VS and MF. So if one has created video mpeg files in VS what is a good program that focuses on really good menu authoring please?

I just downloaded the trial of DVD workshop. Having played a bit with that one I must say it seems to have very cool authoring facilities. The ultimate authoring appears to be dvd lab pro but its rather expensive.
