Upgrade Options

Post by conalg »

Hi,
Please excuse the neophyte question; I am new to the board. I am most interested in upgrading from Version 9 to Version 11 of VideoStudio. I do have a valid version 9 key; the upgrade center validated the key and offered me a reduction on Version 11. However, I noticed the warning below within the upgrade center. I have a brand spanking new Vista machine and loath to install version 9 to upgrade to 11. Does any happen to know if the installer will validate the key alone and not require the installation of an older version of VideoStudio or indeed if the caveat below is an accurate one?
Many thanks in advance
Conal
A non-trial version of one of the above products must be installed on your system in order to install the Upgrade version.

It is my understanding that you do not need a previous version installed. When I reformatted my hard drive I simply put the previous version in my DVD drive where it was recognized by the upgrade version.

When you order the upgrade, you are required to enter the serial number of the previous version you own (VS9). Then when you install the program, you are again asked for the previous version's serial number, which you enter, then a little later you have to enter the VS11 serial number. In other words, you don't need to have the previous version installed, or even insert a disc.
