Enhance Lighting Filter Ulead Video Studio 10

Post by mikeh »

Help please. At edit stage I am applying the Enhance Lighting filter to several clips at about +60 but after saving the .vsp file and returning to it subseqently the clip is not enhanced as it is in the preview. The filter is still attached to the clip and when entering custom filter it shows that the level of enhancement has returned to the default of around + 11 (the default varyies a bit from one clip to another). I am applying the attribute to the whole clip as otherwise it will gradually reduce but still cannot get it to work.

Have contacted an online VS expert who gets same results & suggests I try this forum. Mike H

I just did a little test, and at first glance you appear to be correct. When I re-opened the project the filter was back to the default settings and the video, in Clip mode, looked as the original. However, playing the clip in Project mode did retain the lighting changes. :?: :?

Thanks very much to Jeff (Black Lab). The only reason I had avoided Project mode for previewing was that it then wants to render it all before I can watch it. Perhaps I am doing something else wrong. :?: Anyway once this was done the enhancement does seem to have been applied satisfactorily and presumably at the level intended. :)

It sounds like you are set to HQ playback, whichs renders to a temp file first. Try switching to Instant Playback (File > Preferences) and it should play back, um, instantly.

Thanks Jeff. That makes it a lot easier. I somehow missed this in the 180+ page User Guide.
