need help selecting right program

Sorry I don't know if this is the correct forum for my question.
My wife bought me a sony handycam dcr-dvd105. The last camara I had was clockwork std 8.
The included Nero express appears to only allow me to copy the mini disc to reg DVD disc.
I would like to edit clips, to get rid of the junk and glue clips together to make a passable dvd.
My comp has 2 g memory 300g hard drive, VIIV, Windows XP
What program would you recommend for a computer illiterate like me?

I would recommend VideoStudio. DVD MovieFactory can do some of it too but it is not an editor, VS is an editor but has limited DVD authoring capabilities.
