Mouseover or Hover on menu item

Hey folks,

I think this has been touched on before, but I was unable to find it in the forums.

Basically what I would like to do is create, what I would call, a mouse over or while the menu item is selected to have an image start to animate and stop when a different menu item is selected.

If you are familiar with html and javascript it would be a mouseover event to do an image swap.

Can you point me in the correct direction?

I am using DVDWS2

It will not be as responsive as an actual mouse-over, but it's possible (the delay on a set-top dvd player can vary from player to player).
