GIF Animator Trial

Post by langston »

After installing the trial version of GIF Animator, I get a Softwrap LockFile Error that indicates the license file can't be found when I try to start it.

Also... how many days since you installed it?

I've completed the profile information except for the motherboard. I just downloaded the trial version today.

:?: Other details? Still not enough info to work with here yet.

Where did you download the trial from? Have you tried uninstalling, downloading it again and reinstalling?

I downloaded the GIF Animator TBYB product from the Ulead website. After the initial installation and failure to launch, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. When that didn't work, I downloaded again and it still failed. Next I removed the product using the Windows Add/Remove Hardware procedure, deleted the original .exe file, downloaded it again and I'm still having the same result.
Here is the text of the Softwrap LockFile Error:

Can't find the License file 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Softwrap\\ULEADGA520040406003\ga_main.sw'.
Softwrap cannot continue until the license file is replaced in the same directory as the program. For further information please contact Softwrap support (http://www.softwrap.com)

I have also contacted Softwrap tech support and they asked me to send them a screen shot, which I will do now.

It seems this may be a Softwrap issue... I'm interested to hear what they have to say.

You did the installation logged in with Admin rights on WinXP, yes? Did you disable any anti-virus software running as well?

No, I did not disable my anti-virus software. I'll try that.

I removed GA5, disabled my anti-virus software (and even the firewall), and downloaded GA5 TBYB again. Same result.
I haven't sent the screen shot to Softwrap yet because I was trying to use Yahoo! PhotoMail to send it but I couldn't get that to work either. I was concerned that they may not like an attachment being sent with my reply to them but I'll try sending it as a .doc file and let you know what happens.

An image attachment may be better than a .doc file...

I was able to figure out the problem. It seems there was another user account on my computer that was disabling access to the directory that Softwrap was trying to use to store the license file. So I gained access to that directory with my user account and downloaded GA5 again. This time everything worked fine.
Thanks for your assistance. I'm sorry you had to spend any time on this.
