Camcorder Issues

In earlier versions of VideoStudio, I was able to import video from my camcorder by plugging the AV output cord into the back of my webcam. (I have an ancient Intel PC Camera Pro, and a Sony Handycam camcorder, if that helps anyone.) In the earlier versions, I was able to select an external source for the video that wasn't my PC Camera. I don't have that option in some of the later ones (I'm using 8 right now).

Is there any way I can get that option back, or should I go back to the earlier versions?
