Can you Create a video in DivX format with VS11. I looked in the Video Studio 11 directory in the Profiles sub-directory and there are .ipf files relating to the DivX formats.
However I cannot find any DivX setting when trying to save a file in the program itself.
Am I missing something here?

First question is - have you downloaded and installed the DivX bundle from the DivX website - which you can find at :-

DivX, like Dolby, is a proprietary and commercial codec. While you can download a free 'community codec' from the DivX.com site, you will find that the final video usually includes a watermark for DivX in the bottom right corner. Actually buying the Pro bundle will give you both greater control and no watermark (though you have to manually change that setting).
And once installed, you of course choose it from amongst the .avi selection.
Current version of the codec is 6.6

Thanks Ken, but I am confused as to why VS doesn't include a DivX encoder when other programs do, one of which is freeware.
DivX is becoming an important format these days with more and more material in this format passed about and more Hardware players becoming available.
For example, the photo frame that my Son bought me at Xmas will only play DivX.

I think the simple answer is cost Phil - if Ulead included the DivX codecs with VideoStudio they would charge you an extra 13 pounds for the editor and to many people that would make VideoStudio to expensive so Ulead sell without and let each individual decide whether they want to pay extra or not - it was the same with Dolby sound in earlier versions of VideoStudio - perhaps version 12 or 13 will have DivX included.

Yes, thanks Brian. I didn't know whether I was missing some important setting on VS but I think I'm clear now.
I supose that the free DivX codec is only available for individual use but if Ulead wanted to include it they would have to pay for a licence.
Not too bothered about the bottom corner logo, I think it only lasts a few seconds anyway. I'll install the free one and see how I go.
