retaining relative positions of tracks when inserting clips

Post by frazzled »

I'm running VS7. Is there any way I can insert a new clip somewhere into the video track of a project (say at the beginning of a project that I have already developed) and still retain the other tracks (title, voice and music) in their relative positions. Each time I have gone back to insert a new clip into my project a I have to re-align the other tracks with their associated clips. This is very time consuming and I am sure that there must be a way to do this

In v7 you cannot. Ripple Editing, as it is called, was introduced in a later version (v9?) and has been available in all subsequent versions.

I haven't got version 11 - but I presume it is the same as in V10+

You can view a tutorial on how to do it in V10+ here :-

Yes. It's exactly the same in VS11 as in VS10 -- the ripple editing icon is to the immediate left of the main video track.
