Can't install VideoStudio 11+

Post by jamez »

The serial number I was provided via email does not work. I upgraded from 10+. The key does not seem to be the right number of characters and hence the 'next' button during the install is greyed out. Logged a call with support but no reply yet. Any ideas?

Welcome to the forums,

Did you purchase a full version, or trying to activate/unlock a TBYB (Try Before You Buy, trial) version?

If it is a TBYB, and you are trying to unlock/activate it, there are problems associated with this method. Any patches/fixes tend to see it as a TBYB, and will not install. So we recommend that you purchase a full / upgrade version, uninstall the TBYB, then install your purchased version.

For more information on Activating TBYB read this:

It's the full version. Upgrade from VideoStudio10+ (full) to VideoStudio11+ (full). The key in the email was in the format
xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxxxxx

In the email there was 3 separate download links:

-Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus English
-Extra Contents for Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus English
-Bonus for Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus English

I did a straight cut and paste into the dialog box during the install using the first download link but the 'next' button is still greyed-out out, kind of like the key is in the wrong format or not enough characters or something.

Try entering the key by entering the numbers, not cut and pasting.

Thanks for your help/suggestions guys. Apparently I need to enter my VideoStudio 10+ key into the VideoStudio 11+ install dialog box first and then enter the second key.

I had this same problem last night. I purchased full version--no previous version installed. I received email with key number, but when prompted for serial number during install key number did not work. I've also been given the run around from tech support (element 5 and corel). I've emailed ulead tech support but still have not received a reply. For such a highly rated product I've never experienced such a stupid problem before!

Did you manually type in the serial number or use cut and paste? The latter does not seem to work...

I tried both ways without success.

I ran into the same problem trying to install the full version of VideoStudio 11+ after the TBYB version. I followed the instructions on this page, and it worked:

http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... 5773#55773

I'm very grateful to sjj1805 and jparnold for writing up those instructions. However, I don't understand why the uninstall/reinstall process doesn't handle this automatically. Asking people to delete files and edit the registry manually seems unprofessional. But at least this method seems to work :)

Another poster had a similar problem. He stumbled upon the fix of putting something the the "company" box.

If only it were that easy :) It didn't work for me, however.
