I am a local HS Baseball coach who uses Video Studio 10+ to edit my Player's swings----then I post them on Neptune.com for them to see, discuss with me later---or with another coach...sometimes I make DVD videos for certain boys to show prospective college coaches etc.
VERY convenient and for the first time, I have alomst instant feedback after a game on what my hitters were doing wrong---or right....
I usually use a side view with a nice Panasonic 3 CCD camera and the video is superb.
Recently---I purchased another Panasonic camera with a 32x Optical Zoom which I can set beyond the fence in center field----zoom in----and have a wonderful head-on strike zone view of my hitters----the lens is terrific and the video is beautiful----even from 370 feet away.
What I want to do is combine the two video streams into one video---I think using PIP or adding another video track---that way my hitters (and I) can see two different angles at the same time.
Now here's the problem...
What's the easiest way to synch the two streams??? How can I easily synch the pip or overlay track so it is showing the same moment as the background track????
Can I do this by time stamping somehow (make sure Date and Time on both cameras was set exactly the same----then start both cameras at exactly the same time???? Then just captureindividually later from the begginiing----and then combine???....
Is there an easy way to do this???
Or do I (as I'm afraid) have to do it the old fashioned way and just line up the clips manually.
Vide has been VERY powerful for this team----I can TELL them they are doing something wrong----but until they actually SEE that it is wrong----corrections don't usually get made.
Our Team Batting Average is up 50 points from last year and we are 14-2....I really believe in the power of video and want to find a way to combine this new head-on view with my traditional side view.
Help or advice most appreciated.

Good Article
Alright----good article and I think I get it....
My video A track with soundtrack would be my side view recorded from 50 feet away
My video B track would be my center field view with NO soundtrack (not necessary anyway as the sound I want would be from Video track A)
I just have to get a good synch from the start of both clips-----then----if the cameras are recording the same events at the same time----and I never stop them....
There are in synch and it's a done deal....
Procedures would be:
Capture both tapes from the Vid cameras----each to a separate clip
Put Side view clip into main Track with sound
Put head-on view into additional overlay track without sound
Synch the two tracks
Decide how I want the overlay track to appear....
Produce the video....
Then from there----I can take small clips from the main video I just produced----say a clip of a single hitter during a particular at-bat...
And produce it for the web and posting on Neptune.com for sharing with the player/team as necessary. And/Or----produce the whole long video to DVD for viewing/analysis/archive later...
Does this sound like the right procedure???
Thanks for the help!
