Post by djm »

When i record from tv the quality is fine but when i record form vcr the quality is verry bad.

I tried in composite mode and vcr on the usual cable and always bad quality. Also when i play the vcr on a usual tv the quality is fine.

Whan can this be?

VCR model?
How do you capture the VCR?
What capture device do you use?
What capture software do you use?
What capture settings do you use?

Have you applied the update packs already?

Also, have you contacted Hauppauge for updated driver?

Does your VCR offer S-video output? If not, have you tried using a different cable just in case the current one is bad or sub-standard for any reason? Is the size of the captured content 720 x480? Are there any quality/compression options on the capture card?

I used to be more versed in capturing analog, but now never do it directly. I pass all my analog content through a Digital8 camcorder I purchased for just that person. Hook the VCR to the camera input and camera dv output to my computers firewire input. This let me do everything I could do with native dv with the exception of using timecode. If you have a lot of analog content and can pick up a D8, it will save you time, as well as the money otherwise spent on pain medication.
