But I can't install it. It seems to install a lot for a while. Then it kind of hangs for some time, saying: "AVControlSDK is being installed, please wait". And then suddenly it says "A fatal error has occurred while installing". I press OK, and the installer exits.

Manually browsing to the install dir, I see a lot of installed files, so I try to run vstudio.exe, but it just say "Unable to load the library 'TBYB'."

I have tried to remove every last trace of the failed installation attempt, as well as clearing up various Temp and application data directories, and then reinstall. Same error.

I run Win XP SP2, I run as Administrator and I do not have any antivirus software running. I do have VS9 installed, but I don't think that should interfere with the installer. Any bright ideas?

However, I then went a step further. My suspicion has been around the installation of AVControlSDK. So I poked around a bit in the now unpacked files, and in Info.ini i found an entry called AVControlSDK=1. I changed that to 0, and tried yet another install. And to my big surprise it got all the way through. After that, I installed AVControlSDK by manually running Utilities\AVControlSDK\AVControl.exe

And now VS11+ trial works on my machine.

Such a kind of installation causes an absence of a "capture plugin" with VS!

I tried following your suggestion because I have this same problem. I am unable to locate the Info.ini or the AVControlSDK files. I looked in the unpacked files and don't see anything remotely close to these. Please advise.

Strange. What file have you unpacked and what do you then see?

help

Post by akcub95 »

I have tried everything suggested and am still clueless. I opened it in winzip and finally found the info.ini and TRIED to change AVControlSDK to 0 and saved it and closed it. Reopen it and it's back to 1...I'm going in circles and about ready to ditch the whole thing. I want to try it before I buy it and all this is doing is changing my mind. Can someone help?

Thx

When you sy you opened it with winzip - do you mean you EXTRACTED it with winzip. Opening it and changing the file concerned only affects a temporary file - not quite the same thing.

Well, I opened it with winzip and then changed it and then hit extract. I'm such a novice at this type of stuff, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Thx

Well, I figured it out and it seems to be loaded correctly, but I haven't gotten it to "capture" any video yet, so I will play around until I can figure that out.

Thx again

I have received the following email from Ulead.

Dear global support team,

As you know users encounter a bug regarding installation error of UVS11 and DMF6. During installation they suddenly got the error message "A fatal error has occurred during installation". after the message "AVControl SDK will be installed". Every known solution in that case won't change a thing.

The patch for this bug was ready yesterday, please send the attached file or this link to user.

ftp://ftp.ulead.com/pub/Updates/VideoSt ... pgrade.exe

The steps are listed as following,

1. Remove manually the UVS/DMF files/folder under Program Files or where they installed by themselves.
2. Update the patch WinDVD5.0B011.Recover.FixedGenericLicense.iUpgrade.exe
3. Install UVS/DMF again.

Please give me any feedback of users, if it runs ok, I will require web team to create webpage for this patch.

Hello!

So what is new about dealing with this problem?

If I use WinDVD5.0B011.Recover.FixedGenericLicense.iUpgrade.exe I get the same problem as some of the people saying that the program can't run because I don't have WinDVD...

I'm still waiting for the solution.
