Platinum 8 Problems

Post by RCF »

Firstly, hello everyone.

Secondly, I'd like to start by saying that I'm bloody impressed by the rendering across a range of codecs, much better than WMP and the colour controls, etc are a God-send.

Thirdly...I'm confused. I can only sumise that my product isn't registered, despite going through the process after install on my XP Pro machine. The reason I say this is when I try to connect to the update link in START>ALL PROGRAMS it either doesn't connect at all or when it does it advises to contact support in regards to registering the product. The connection is fine since I've checked the prog has full permissions in my firewall (Macafee).

As for an "about" dialogue in the program I can't find one, but I can see the option to register is not grayed out in the drop down menu during playback.

Finally, the capture tools, both single picture and gif file, only work during VOB playback, which has got me pretty steamed because I don't recall that particular little nugget of info being offered. Nearly all of my old stuff is transcoded to Divx, so no cigar there.

Overall impression so far is generally good, but this registering malarky has me wondering if there are any other problems under the bonnet yet to appear.

Please advise, thanks.

EDIT - Re connection problem, error code 11500
