Power Calibration Error

Post by eharrismd »

All of the sudden, VS 9 will not burn my DVDs. It gets all the way to the burn, then gives me a power calibration failed error. I have changed my DVD+R media but still get the same error. My burner works as far as burning CDs. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you.

When VS starts to burn, the burner will run a power calibration check on the media so it can adjust its writing laser head to a proper power level to burn the media. If it has some errors when checking the calibration area, then you will see the error message. The error might be due to:

1. Poor quality of media (disk)
2. The power level of the laser writing head in the burner is not high enough to burn the media.

If it's #1, then replacing the media can fix it. If it's #2, then you might need to check the burner.

Every time you burn, the power level may not be the same. So while you may have been able to burn with it before, you may not be able to now.
