Some punctuation in the matter would also be great! Difficult to read without it...
But as to your problem, what kind of DV/AVI are your trying to capture: with Type 1 or Type 2 encoder? If the latter, then you need a fairly powerful computer to do it. Also, what is your source? Digital or analogue?
If you are capturing direct to MPEG, have you checked to make sure that you have the correct plug-in (Tools > Change Capture Plug-in)?
And finally, which WinFast card are you using. I have the WinFast Dv2000 which seems to work fine, both for inbuilt TV capture, as well as for external DV (via the inbuilt Firewire port) and MPEG capture (though for the latter, I confess I use the card's own capture settings, and only later call the clips up into Video Studio).

Ken sorry about the bad english will try better this time.
ok I am capturing Digital, with type 1 encoder.
my capture plug is,ulead direct show capture plug in.
The winfast card I am using, is winfast tv2000 xp, which I have have no problems with getting it on to my hard drive.
my settings with this card are mpeg-2 O ptimal Quality
capture resolution is720 x 576 pal.
mpeg 2 bitrate constant
video quality is 1000
target data rate is 8000
audio capture is mpeg 1 audio layer 11.
at this stage this seems to be working ok.
I can get video in VS8 using the winfast as the source so perhaps it is the firewire that could be the problem.
