I have a number of movies created in Windows Movie Maker and exported as WMV (DVD PAL 4:3) format. When imported into MovieFactory they are "squashed" from the sides, leaving a narrow black band on the left and right edges. This happens both in preview and the finished DVD.
Other WMV files downloaded from elsewhere display as expected.
Any ideas?
Movie Maker WMV movie "squashed" in MovieFactory 6
Which version of MovieFactory?
Which version of Windows?
When you play the offending WMV files in, say, Windows Media Player, do they display in exactly the same format as the other WMV files downloaded from elsewhere?
Windows Movie Maker offers 4 PAL export qualities - which was used for creation of the offending WMV files? Have you tried creating WMV files with the other 3 PAL export settings?

I'm running on Vista Home Premium.
Windows Movie Maker 6
Ulead MovieFactory 6
The WMV files play fine in Windows Media Player.
Just tried publishing the movie as WMV VHS Quality, and that imports fine. I'll need to see whether there's a noticeable loss of quality on the finished DVD.
The other WMV export options seem to be for 16:9 aspect, which I don't want.
Have previously tried exporting as DV-AVI. Imports OK, but the picture quality is worse (has a washed out look).
I'm new to video editing, so any advice gratefully received.
