ImportDVDApp MFC consistently crashes in Movie Factory 6+

Post by krasnit »

Hi:
I cannot import titles from my DVDs. When I select import, a window opens that lists all the titles on the DVD. But when I select a DVD title to view in this import DVD window, I keep getting "ImportDVDApp MFC Application has encountered an error and needs to close" after a few seconds, and an error report is asked to be sent to Microsoft. I installed Movie Factory 6+ on 3 computers, same problem on 2 of them, but the third, my laptop, works OK but is underpowered for the jobs. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Ted

Import DVD failure

Post by jethro13 »

Hi,

I get exactly the same problem when trying to import from DVD. I was using Moviefactory 5 and stripped everything out before loading 6. I cannot now import any DVD without the dreaded "....encountered a problem and needs to close" and I am using DVD's which loaded OK in 5.
Interestingly when I get this problem the DVD drive locks and nothing will release it until the Pc is restarted - very annoying!

I have now abandoned 6 and reloaded 5 and everything is working OK.

DVD Import Problems

Post by jethro13 »

Hi,

Suggest you look at the post ref Fix: Import DVD(VOB) Files DMF/VS/MSP Author sjj1805. It seems I had too many copies of the file h264vdechpdll and it was obviously using the wrong one. I took the advice in the post to download a fresh copy from the web site (given in the post) and rename the ones I had on my system. Have tried it now with a couple of DVD's and it seems to work OK.
