Ok, this is interesting. I made some short burns, wasting about 6 dvd in the process but here is what I found.

First recap.... analogue 8mm cassette captured via firewire by a Canopus 300 into the Adobe Premiere capture module as a dv-avi of course.

I edited this clip in Adobe premiere. Only splitting the clips and removing some unwanted portions.

After I finished I rendered the new clip back to a dv-avi file.

Ok, so I re-rendered this shortened clip to dv-avi withing Premiere.

Brought Premiere rendered dv-avi into DVDWS where I menued and encoded to mpeg-2 VBR 2pass 6000 target. RESULT .. jittery playback.

(Did the exact same thing using DVDit Pro 6 and the result from the Premiere rendered dv-avi ... NO Jittery playback.

The above was my original problem and cure ...

Now... with some time on my hands, I once again tried some experiments

First I changed the .DVDWS.ini file to advance=1 and checked field order and deinterlace in the advanced options. it was LFF and disabled.

Next I brought the same Premiere rendered dv-avi into WS. This time I set the endpoint for 3 minutes in just to make for fast experiments.
Also, this time I thought I'd do the same encoding as originally but with CBR set to 7500. RESULT ... Jittery playback.

Next .. I did the same thing and set advanced field order to UFF just for kicks .... no change still jittery.

Next I opened the Premiere rendered clip in Adobe Premiere and just used the first 3 minutes. This time, saving out to an mpeg CBR 7500 pcm right inside Adobe. I brought that file into DVDWS and with no re-encoding needed produced a DVD. RESULT ..... NO Jitters!!!

Here comes the good one ... I took the original analogue to digital captured dv-avi that encoded via Canopus 300 hardware and opened it in DVDWS. Set the endpoint once again to 3 minutes. Encoded to CBR 7500 just as I did with the Premiere rendered dv-avi. This time..RESULTS ..NO Jitter at all!

So, It woudl seem that after bringing the Canopus dv-avi's into Premiere for editing, re-rendering them out to a microsoft dv-avi was something that DVDWorkshop didn't like but that DVDit Pro didn't mind.

I don't know what the heck to make of it since I'm sure both WS and DVDit use mainconcept encoders albiet (perhaps) different vers. I dunno.
