MovieFactory 5 not working with h.264 from Sanyo CG65

Post by sanyo-cg65-user »

Hello forum, please help me.

I purchased a Sanyo Xacti CG65 that records to mp4 h.264. The camera came with MovieFactory 5. I install the software but when I try to create a new project, import from file, then browse to the file and hit import the program crashes.

Sometimes it will try to send the crash info to Micro$oft, if I look into the detail it has the error signature of:
AppName: dvdmf.exe AppVer: 5.0.0.0 ModName: h264vdechpdll.dll
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00073a38

The about screen says - 'DVD MovieFactory 5.50.0064.0 for Sanyo'

The AutoUpdate program also says product not registed, though I have done that several days ago.

PhotoExplorer Basic SE 8.5 that also came with the camera will not recognize the files. But they play fine in VLC and Quicktime Player.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry, can't help because I have an Xacti HD and have a similar problem. Nothing from Ulead works ! keep getting the "no capture driver" message, but the mp4 files download and play individually-not in stream. The programs don'y work with Win MM or Premiere , I'll wait for a response to your question before dumping the whole camera!

What operating system are you using?
In order for MF5 to see the files you have to install a special codec/driver for that cam. The codec/drivers may be on the Sanyo disk or built into the MF5 program IF the MF5 program is a "Special Edition", meaning written specifically for the Sanyo Camcorder.
If thought it records in the 1280x720p mode.

If you using Vista this may be a problem. The mpeg4 videos may not be supported by the Vista operating system and the DirectX Vista's new video interface.

If VLC can read the files you can also program VLC to convert the mpeg4 video into another format that can be imported into MF5.
MF5 also has important patches that should be installed. Check the ulead website for these update patches & try to install them.

Thanks for the suggestions. However, The MF5 is not an SE program. Trying to get the MF 5 patches on the ULEAD site bumps me to MF 6, a site I cannot use with XP!. Conversion to avi was not helpful either. Is this another instance of the need to recall Far Eastern products? Fortunately, I have the address of the Sanyo headquarters nearby. I am going to demand a refund. When they get a summons, perhaps they will do something helpful.

Trying to get the MF 5 patches on the ULEAD site bumps me to MF 6,
This is the correct link, for XP scroll down and install service pack 1.
If your using MF5+ I don't think this applies, only to the standard version.

I have exactly the same problem. I have a Sanyo AVC/H.264 and the vidoe format is *.mp4. MovieFactory 4 from before does not recognise *MP4. The MovieFactory 5.50.0064.0 comes with the Sanyo camcorder recognizes the format but when it gets to burning, it crashed at around 12%. I have been trying it many times and still not working. Please help!!!!

for the cg65 I have started converting to avi, MF5 works fine with that.... This is a great tool - http://mp4cam2avi.sourceforge.net/

Still blows my mind Sanyo would ship this with software that does not work with it.... But at least a work around now.

Sanyo VPC-CG65 Xacti 6MP MPEG4 & MovieFactory 5

Thank you for the reply. I believe it is too tedious to convert the format of the video clips we take before we doing editing and burning on a DVD. This is way too much trouble. I have 2 problems : First, the software crashed at around 12% - 17% while "converting", and wanted to report error messages etc. The error message is :

AppName : dvdmf.exe
AppVer: 5.0.0.0
ModName : uvmp4drv.dll
ModVer : 8.0.0.0
Offset : 0000ac07

My software says "Ulead Movie Factory 5 for Sanyo"

Second, when I try to install the update patches for MovieFactory 5, while installation, the update patch says it does not detect MovieFactory 5 in my computer. I registered the MF 5 through the Ulead web site and it keeps saying the product is already registered but when I look at "my product" section, it does not show me having MF5 as registered. It only shows my MF 4 from last year.

Can someone help me again ? Please ! I am very frustrated.

I would also report that DMF5 does not work :(

Whether this has something to do with memory, I don't know :(

I find that if I add clips and apply effects the program won't display the next screen when I hit the "next" button

Sometimes if I put clips in and apply no effects I can get to the "burn " menu.

Also should I be able to apply effects then "export" the edited file as an AVI on my computer, once again I can't do this, only if I do nothing to the origional clips,
Ulead should do something about this bad programming, who tests it?
Or do they just want the liecence money from Sanyo ?

I have a Xacti CG6, that came with MF 6. After installing ulead software to desktop, I also found that it wouldnt work with the MPEG4 files from the xacti, but would with avi files already in the computer!!!!!!!!! So frustrating. So I downloaded file converter from sourceforge and the would convert the files. I was going to buy something else to do the job. Then I loaded MF 6 onto laptop and it worked fine, with the MPEG4 files!!!!. So removed and reinstalled on desktop and it worked fine!!!!!. It acted as if it had installed properly on desktop, but it obviously hadnt.
