Burning DVD problem

Post by mulley13 »

I am trying to burn a DVD using VS10. I have set up the video with about 80 pictues (all jpg) and some audio (all mp3). There are some titles included in between the sets of pictures. When I go to the Share tab and thru the process of creating a menu and get the the point where I click on the Burn button. It starts to burn but comes up with the following error message, "Conver Step Got Some Problems." I have tried to just save it as a DVD onto my hard drive but it gives the same error.

I am using a HP DVD burner 740. I am using a 16X DVD w/ lightscribe.

My System is the following.

OS: XP SP2
Mother board: Abit Fatality AA8xe
Graphics: ATI Radeon Xtasy 128MB
Sound: Reltrek Audio (on board)
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 3.06 GHz
Hard Drive: 100 gig
RAM: 512mb

If anyone can help this would be great. I am not sure what else to do other than uninstalling and then reinstalling but I wanted to see if anyone else has dealt with this problem. I have looked over the forum but cannot seem to find anything in this regards.

Thanks for any help

I think you are going from the step of assembling all the photos, music and titles, and then choosing Share > Create Disc. The conversion of the slideshow to DVD compliant mpeg-2 will then have to take place in the burning module, at the same time as the program is having to multiplex the video and audio, convert the menu to video etc. Some computers just don't seem to be able to handle the load.

Instead, after you have assembled the slideshow, added the music etc, try first selecting Share > Create Video File > DVD. This will create a DVD compliant mpeg-2 of your project as a separate step that is less demanding on your computer resources.

Then when you have the mpeg-2, save your project and open a new one. Leave the timeline empty. The go to Share > Create Disc to open the burning module. Insert your new mpeg-2. Make sure 'do not convert compliant mpeg files' is ticked in the Options cogwheel icon in the bottom left of the screen. Build your menus and burn.

You might also want to consider converting your mp3s to .wav format. VS appears to have difficulties with mp3 produced by certain codecs, the LameMP3 codec being one.
