DVD-A media?
I have an Acura TL 2004 w/ Navigation (Alpine OEM) that supposedly reads DVD-A. I burned my first DVD-A from Burn.NOW with no luck. I called the manufacuturer, and they said that the radio only reads DVD-A bought in stores, nor DVD-R Media? Would you think this is true? What Media is used for DVD-A that is sold in stores?

I believe the media for DVD-A in store should be DVD-ROM.
When you put the DVD-R media into your Acura DVD-A Sound System, will it recognize the disc as DVD-A, or just show disc error?
If it shows disc error, then it's possible your Acura DVD-A Sound System might not support the media.

Part 2
I think you are right. When I burned the DVD-A, after completion, I used the Plextor tools to read the type of DVD in the drive, and it reported it as a DVD-ROM, which by they way it cannot read.
To lead my investigation further, when inserted in the Acura, it does read it as a DVD-A, but I guess as it's trying to read it, it cannot, and it spits it out.
The original media used in the test was a DVD+R DL. So I'm thinking it's either the dual layer that's confusing the head unit or the +/- R Media??? I don't know the difference between these media's, but I'm just trying to scientifically elimiate.
I was thinking of buying a few single layer DVD+R, and DVD-R just as a test and do the same burn. It's only about 3.1 GB of music, so it will fit onto a single layer.

More interesting
I do have a demonstration disk (Supposedly DVD-A), that came with the car, and I put it into my Plextor Drive, and it reports it as a DVD-ROM single layer, so you are correct in your statement.
What I find interesting is that it also has video on the disk, leading me to believe that it might be an DVD-Video, not a DVD-A as they claim. However, the car cannot read the Video contents, just audio. I may try a burn for an Audio-Only DVD-Video??? what do you think??

DVD-Audio disc can have DVD-Video contents (it's defined in the DVD-A format), so it's correct you see the video content in a DVD-A disc.
I think it's not a Single Layer/Dual Layer problem, and your Acura DVD-A Sound System should be able to play DVD-R disc I think.
According to your statements, I think Audio-only DVD-Video might not work for your Acura DVD-A Sound System (but I'm not sure for I do not have an Acura TL car) because you said it will not play the DVD-Video content in the DVD-A disc you have, and Audio-only DVD-Video is DVD-Video. However, you can try it.
I will help to transfer your problem to Ulead, and I think this problem might be fixed soon....
Hope this helps.

Hi,
If it helps at all on the dvd-audio disks I have the files located
in the video_ts folder hold the information to display that
the dvd player you are viewing this on cannot play dvd-audio.
A regular dvd player that can't play dvd-audio disk will play the files
in the video_ts folder because it doesn't know any different.
On a player that can't play dvd-audio the screen displays:
"If you are viewing this screen then your dvd player isn't capable
or setup to play this dvd-audio disk".
