I burned a project using the latest version of Movie Factory 6 Plus. This was burned as an HD-DVD image to a Memorex DVD+R DL and the project was 6.3 GB. The disk plays fine with all menus acceessible and working until it gets to the layer change point about 80% of the way through the playback on my Toshiba HD-A2 player (which has the latest firmware installed). When I select any chapter that is on the second layer near the end of the project for playback, it shows a still frame for a few seconds and then kicks back to some point on the first layer of the disk. In summary, I am not able to play this disk through the layer change point.
Is there anything I can do to correct this? Is it just not possible to burn dual layer HD-DVD's to standard dual layer DVD's?
You help would be much appreciated.

Unable To Play From 2nd Layer on Dual Layer DVD's
Tom,
I use to have the same problem burning dual-layered dvd's. I guess it's my Sony burners and the media I'm using. Some of the dual-layered dvd's are memorex & TDK. Even after creating ISO images and using other programs to burn the dual-layers I still had the same problem with the 2nd layer burning correctly.
After experimenting I now use "Nero" to burn either the ISO image file or "Dvd Folders".
In Nero when you select your burner click on the "Options" or advanced Icon on the bottom of that selection window. In the Options/advanced screen on I have all the extra settings checked ON. I know in order to burn my dual layers correctly I have to use the "Burn extended write out area on dual-layered disks".
I also change the "BookType" to DVD-ROM for better compatibility when using DVD+R media. This shouldn't be necessary though for the new HD-DVD player I would think because they should support all these newer formats.
So to fix my problem I burn the ISO or DVD Folders with the "Burn extended write out area on dual-layered disks" in Nero being activated.

etech6355,
Thank you so much for taking the time to respond.
I have printed out your reply and I am about to sit down at my PC where I have Nero 7 Ultimate Extended Edition installed and try burning this HD-DVD image that I have on HD to my DVD+R DL disks. I really hope I can get this to work becuase everything on my project (both menus and content) looked beautiful when displayed on my 96 in. screen with a Sony VPL-VW100 projector that Ihave in my home theater. I was so disappointed when it came to the layer change and kick back to the top layer.
Thank you again and I am going to give your suggestions a try.

etech6355,
Just wanted to let you know that your suggestion paid off! I have now sucessfully burned my first dual layer HD-DVD image to a DVD+R DL Memorex disk. I used Nero Ultimate 7 Extended Edition (the latest version of Nero). I could not find the "Burn extended write out area on dual-layered disks" as an available option under the Options tab on the Select Burner page and consulting Nero Help failed to turn up any mention of such an option. However, on the Select Burner Tab under Options all of the options were selected by default. I burned the same disk image in Nero that had failed to play back properly when burned in DVD Movie Factory 6 Plus. I am delighted to say that it played back absolutely perfectly from beginning to end without even the slightest pause when the layers changed. In fact, I was astonished that there was no indication of a layer change at all -- just totally smooth and outstanding play back.
Ulead needs to correct this bug in their implmentation of dual layer recording!
Thank you again for your help.
