Split by scene

Split by scene
I have had to reinstall VS10 and when in capture mode the split by scene option is greyed out. It didn't used to be and I don't know if I should change any of the preferences etc.
I know I can split the movie into scenes in edit mode but it was good to have the option in capture mode. Is there a reason why this is greyed out.
Thanks

I am capturing from my camcorder to ULead as normal which I've done many times before.
The properties of the ca[tured film are MPEG2, LFF. 720 x56 16:9.
This means I have got the widescreen look (black bands at top and bottom. Is ther a way to change the format now to a full screen which I presume is 4:3. Shoud I have gone into options before capturing? Does VS10 have a default capturing mode or do you have to set your own?
Thanks

If you are only worried about the black lines above and below in the preview screen, you need to know that the preview screen itself is fixed to show 4:3 full screen but 16:9 with the black stripes. It does this for everyone, as far as I am aware.
However, when you process the project and burn a DVD, the black lines are not (or should not be) there.
Burn your project to an RW disc to test it, or else to a Video_TS DVD folder and play it back with a software player...
