Cannot import DVD content

Post by bossa »

Hi all
Can someone help me out. I'm trying to edit a TV programme that I have recorded on a Panasonic DVD recorder. The problem is when I try to select source and import the initialization freezes at 61%. The whole application stops responding and I cannot eject the media either.
Any ideas?

Update:
Just wanted to add that I tried importing content from other movies and thats OK until I try to tick the titles or chapter boxes and then I get the encountered an error and then it has to shut down. I have re-installed but still having the same problem :(

The Ulead programs do seem to have trouble importing DVDs from some DVD-recorders & DVD-cameras...

First, make sure the DVD is "closed" or "finalized". (This is done on the stand-alone DVD recorder.)

Try copying the DVD to your hard drive before importing it.

If that doesn't work, you can try FixVTS or VOB 2 MPG (both FREE!!!).

Thanks guys
I will let you know how I get on.

DVDDoug I tried VOB 2 MPG after seeing it mentioned in another thread but Ulead encounters a problem when working with with converted file
:?
To make things more confusing I have just got hold of some DVD RAM discs for my DVD Recorder......this should be fun!. Although I have read reports that Movie factory (4/5) has been used successfully with DVD RAM.

Thanks Steve

UPDATE:
@sjj1805 I followed your instructions but unfortunately there is no change. Still sticks or encounters an error and then Movie factory stops responding ,Movie studio the same :? :(

PS there were two other files named H264VDecHPDll.dll and were around 690 KB

I ended up using TMPGEnc and it worked brilliantly .Tried using the mpeg produce by TMPGEnc using Movie Factory and it worked .....well not quite the audio was all out of sync. Anyway I ended up using TMPGEnc Author and it worked perfectly.

Sorry, I should have said:

I replied to this thread when I thought I was in a different thread. So I deleted my comments as I can not figure out how to delete my reply once it is created and sent. Not wanting to leave the reply blank I wrote "Wrong reply sorry."

What I should have written is what I wrote above.

I now see how the above could have been misinterpreted as a rude comment about the validity of the previous reply from "bossa"

bossa please accept my apologies about any possible misinterpretation of the quality of your comments.

Well yours was not a solution in MF  .

Steve's solution worked for me, but only after some changes. As his file incorrectly got unpacked into a mpeg sub-folder, here's what I had to do: I dragged the new H264VDecHPDll.dll file to the ?:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\MPEG folder.
