Audio only DVD-video - many problems

Post by michalvogl »

One interesting thing, which is new in MF4 is making 1 DVD containing 45 hours of music in Dolby Digital. In manual is written that 1 DVD can contain 99 titles, each of 99 files (tracks). Program can create only 1 title with 99 songs - it is about 800 - 1000 MB. And what is worth - I never see my computer do such strange things as with MF4 (with all parts) program. Waiting for something, ending MF4 (nobody knows why, because if you try the same again everything is perfect). Problem is not in my computer (P4 3,2 GHz, 512 MB RAM, Windows XP SP2, ...). I have no problem with all other program (Videostudio 8, MF 3, Nero, Cubase, ...). MF 4 is like beta. And back to the Audio only DVD - I burned something, I verified data but nothing is on DVD. Has anybody an idea what is wrong?

Can you describe the source materials you use?
The burner model you use?
And the media you use?
If you burn the DVD to a ISO disc image file, will it be OK?
If you burn the ISO file by using Nero, will it be OK?

Are you creating a DVD-Audio disc or an Audio-only DVD-Video disc in DVDMF?

DVD-Audio disc will have 99 titles limit, but Audio-only DVD-Video will not. You should be able to burn up to 99x99 = 8901 songs in Audio-only DVD-Video.

I just did a test.

I start the DVDMF4 Launcher.
I click on Create Music DVD.
I select Audio-only DVD-Video.

After a while, the Ulead Burn. Now module appeared.

I switch the Format combo box to Dolby Digital Audio.
I use the Select Files and Folders panel in Burn. Now to drag music files into the Audio disc panel.
I drag about 208 MP3 files into the panel, the total DVD size shows on the size bar is 1.81GB.
I click on the Burn disc button on the main tool bar.
I click on the disc icon in the Burning Options dialog to start the burning.

I can burn the disc successfully.

My system spec:

Intel Pentium 4 2.8G with HyperThreading
512MB DDR RAM
80GB HDD
nVidia TNT2 M64
Windows XP SP2
Sony DRU-700A
Ritek DVD+RW 2.4X

Can you describe the steps you do?
And, does your working drive has enough space? If you are burning 4.7GB, you might need up to 13GB temp folder size to burn the DVD.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

I do exactly the same (I really create Audio only DVD video), but when are 99 tracks on Audio disc then appears window "Only 99 folders/files can be added to the Disk Layout Window. Folders/files that exceed the limit will be disregarded". It is about 800 MB in Dolby Digital. I have no problem with disk capacity - system disk is RAID 0 2x 120 GB (about 100 GB free), I have also backup disk on USB - about 40 GB left.

Thank you for help

I will help to report your problem to Ulead, but if it's OK for you, please fill the Tech Support Form to Ulead also.

Hope this helps.

Hi there,

I just downloaded the free trial version of DVD Movie Factory 4.0 Disc Creator because I very much like the sound of the Audio-only DVD-video discs, however I'm having the same problem encountered by the previous poster in this thread (I can only add 99 tracks to the playlist).

Does anyone know if there is a solution to this problem? I cannot contact Tech Support as I am not a registered user of the program yet, and I don't plan on purchasing the registration until I know this feature works, since it's the main reason I am considering the software. If anyone can help I would appreciate it!

Also, is there any way to sort the mp3 tracks into albums in this kind of DVD? When I burn an MP3 DVD the tracks are saved in the folders in which I drag them across, so I can organise them into discrete albums. However, my DVD player won't recognise the tracks, so I can only play them on my PC. When I add several folders to the list in the Audio-only DVD-video format the folders are removed, leaving just 1 long list of tracks. I'd like to be able to keep the tracks in seperate albums for convenience, but I want to be able to play them on a DVD player.

I'd appreciate any help you can give me with these issues,

Thanks,
Steve.

Hi,

The 99 track limit problem of Audio-only DVD-Video in DVDMF4 is been confirmed by Ulead and if your DVDMF is an purchased version, you can contact Ulead Tech Support ( http://www.ulead.com/tech/techsupport.htm ) to get an fix for this problem.

The fix will also be included in the upcoming patch.

For other issues you mentioned (such as title management), you can make suggestions to Ulead in http://www.ulead.com/dmf/feedback.htm .

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help H.T. :)

So, as of right now do I have to buy the full version of the program to get the fix for this issue? I was hoping to try this out before deciding whether or not to buy, as this would be the main reason for my buying the program if it works the way I hope it does.

Will the upcoming patch work for the trial version? I tried to patch the trial version with a patch that's already available in the support section but the installer failed to find DVDMF4 on my system. And will I be able to uninstall the trial version now and reinstall it once the patch is released, or will my trial period continue to expire in the meantime?

I will add the title management suggestion in the feedback as you recommend, but could you tell me how the DVD menu operates at present? Does it just show a list of tracks or is it divided by page, etc. I don't want to waste a DVD trying it out until I can produce a full-featured version. :?

Thanks once again,
Steve.

For the fix, yes you need to buy the full version so you can get it.

The fix only fixes the 99 track limit problem, so you can use the trial version to see if the disc format can be played in your player. If you are satisfied with the result, then you can buy the full version and request for the free fix (or apply the upcoming patch) to unlock the track limit.

No, any patches from Ulead will not work for the trial version, they only work for the standalone purchased version or SE version that comes with your hardware devices. That's why the patch installer cannot find DVDMF4 on your system.
And will I be able to uninstall the trial version now and reinstall it once the patch is released, or will my trial period continue to expire in the meantime?
Once you installed the trial version, the trial period counting is started and cannot be reset. You can only install the trial program to another system if the trial period is expired.
I will add the title management suggestion in the feedback as you recommend, but could you tell me how the DVD menu operates at present? Does it just show a list of tracks or is it divided by page, etc. I don't want to waste a DVD trying it out until I can produce a full-featured version. :?
In current version it only shows a list of tracks on DVD track backgrounds and highlight the playing track on the DVD screen.

check out the page 5 of your MovieFactory user's manual. It states that the availability of the program modules depends on the version that you have.
