Videostudio 11 Trial does not work

Post by rjacek1 »

I get an error message that states, "Limits for user has been exceeded.
Enter activation key to use product". Ulead support was contacted and they have no resolution. They said that they do not support trial software
of their products.

Please use Administrator account to log-in in Windows as Ulead will work only with Admin Privileges.

Login to Windows XP as the Power-User or Administrator in order to run Ulead software.

You need Administrator privilages to install and run any Ulead software. If you have no choice but to run it on a Limited or Guest user account, what you can do is to assign a differnt user (admin) for running the specific software.

To assign a different user name to your Ulead software:

1. Right-click the shortcut to the program .EXE file, and then click "Properties".

2. On the "Shortcut" tab, click "Advanced", and then select the "Run with different credentials" check box.

Notes:

* "Run with different credentials" is useful when you are not logged on as an administrator but you need to perform an administrative task, such as changing a user's password.

* When the "Run with different credentials" check box is selected, you:
1. can right-click the shortcut, and then click Run as to specify the user name (with Admin privilages) with which to run the program.
2. are prompted to select "Current user" or "The following user" each time you open the shortcut to the program.

This DID NOT work. I DO have administrative priviledges and logged in as
an administrator.

Did you log in as THE Administrator that installed it.
Some users computers may have more than one administrator account, I have known this occur before with other software packages.

Are you using XP Pro or Home Edition?

If your using XP Pro then try checking the folder permissions
How to Share and Set Permissions for Folders and Files Using Windows XP

If your using Home Edition you may have to try uninstalling/re-installing.
This should remember how many days of the free trial you have left.

this happen before.

in the same fashion that you check the XP user permission in windows Explorer, check the permissions in the Windows Registry

Run | Regedit
Navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ulead Systems
Also
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ulead Systems

Right click to bring up a dialog box like that in Windows Explorer

Also....
did you check the permissions at
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems

I checked those out. I have full permissions on everything.

The wording of the error message does not seem quite right, can you post a screen shot please.

Sorry, it actually says, "Limit users cannot try this product. You can use
normally after successful activation". I think that this means my trial
period has expired, but I just loaded it on two days ago.

Very odd, it hasn't even been out 30 days yet and so at least we know it shouldn't have expired. The problem can occur if you have had a problem with your computers system clock.

Have you had to alter the computers date/time at any time since installing the trial, perhaps you turn off your computer at night and the motherboard CMOS battery needs replacing?

Sometimes, trial Ulead software expires earlier than the prescribed date. In this case, there is no way to extend the trial period; however, you may try the following alternatives to make the trial software work/run again.

1. Reinstall the operating system then the trial program.
2. Install the trial program in another computer.
3. Wait until a newer trial version is released. *** - (which I think a big NO NO)
4. Download another copy of the trial version.
5. Download the trial onto a disk using another computer that has internet connection, and then install it on your computer.
