problem adding music track to timeline

Post by Susan Cyr »

Just downloaded VS11+ trial and had the same problem with VS10. I wanted to add a short music track from the "island party" library that is included. It works great as long as I only want one of the tunes: pool side. None of the others can be loaded and/or clipped. I'm doing 22 videos at work, and I wanted to use a different track at the beginning of each one. I think I'm adding Limbo or one of the other tunes, but them some gremlin comes along and changes it to Pool Side while I'm not looking.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Thanks for the suggestion re: the tutorial. Unfortunately, at 90+M it's too large for me to download without an act of Congress that will take weeks. That's what it took to get the product! Is the information documented anywhere? I do have the user manual, but it's pretty vague on the subject.

Eventually I will get that part of the forums online manual
From Camcorder to DVD with Video Studio - Editing Phase. written but that part is some time off yet.

Very briefly (I have to log off soon got to get some sleep before I start work in 5 hours time) you go to the audio tab and select the auto music tab.
Scope = owned
Library = Full spectrum 22k
Music = select something you like from the list
Variation = whatever has been selected as Music will have different variations.

Auto trim when selected will make the music the length of wherever your jog slider is positioned in the preview window to the end.

Simply click the button [Add to timeline] - basically that's all there is to it.

I had that trouble sometimes with SmartSound tracks, they would change to one of the other tracks from that genre. My workaround was to determine the exact length the track needed to be. Then, in a new project I would put the track in the timeline (when I would only put the SmartSound track in the timeline the correct track seemed to stick), then I would go to Share > Create Sound File. I would then put that resulting sound file into my project.
