16:9 Widescreen conversion?

I searched the forum and didn't find an answer and on Ulead's product page all it say is VS8 supports 16:9 format.

My question is can VS8 convert regular 4:3 to 16:9? I video with a Sony Digital8 camcorder and would like to convert the standard 4:3 format to 16:9 to view on my widescreen TV without changing the viewing aspect ratio on the TV.

Hi Erock

Yes VS should be able to do that.
But you will only see the 4:3 ratio frame within your widescreen tv.
I just did a quick test and the left and right edges were filled with a black border to create the 16:9 frame.
The 16:9 frame looks like a small 4:3 in the middle of the preview screen.

The background of the preview screen is black by default. If you change this colour you will be able to identify the full 16:9 frame.

I'll give it a try. I'm not concerned with the letter box bars so long as I don't have to change the viewing aspect ration of the TV as this causes stretch making everyone look either fat or very short
