OK, I am stoked to finally try this product out again. I had a version 6 a long time ago and am happy to see that I can get an upgraded price. with that said, I just downloaded the trial (Had vista so I have been waiting for about 2 months now). haven't played w/ it yet, but here is my questions.
Quick explanation on the value of having 7 vs. 2 video tracks? what what exactly does that mean. two videos playing on top of each other?
Does anyone know if the expandable time line is available in the trial so I know if I want this or not? what does distorting clips and overlay tracks give me.
I know they are basic questions and I am sure to have more, but just curious on your feedback. TIA
Comparision on VS 11 vs. Plus version

Quick explanation on the value of 7 overlay (which incidentally is 6 overlay ) tracks.
PIP = Picture in Picture, Lower Thirds, split screen effects, these all take multiple overlay tracks, and the number of tracks depends on how complex you would like your video to be.
Is the timeline expandable in the Trial Version? I don't know, I have the full version. Since you have the trial, fire it up and see. If it does, then you can post back here, so that others will know.
Distorting clips is also for effect. This allows you, for example in the main video track to resize, make the clip have perspective, just numerous ways to use this option.
Bottom line is, play with it as much as you can for the 30 days that you have the trial. That's the only way you will know if it is what you're wanting.

Here is an example of distorting clips.
Video: Distorted Split Screen Effect
This effect requires 3 video tracks.
1. The background
2. The left hand clip
3. The right hand clip.
