Audio Playback on DVD sounds like Darth Vada

Post by beg7 »

Can someone please help me!
I have made a number of DVD's using Ulead Video Studio 8 and they playback fine on the computer DVD programme both pictures and sound. BUT when I play them on a DVD player the music sounds like 'Darth Vadar'. Absolutely terrible. I have made several different DVD's and tried several different DVD players all wiht the same result. Is one of my settings wrong for the audio??? Its seems strange that it works fine on the computer DVD software but not a DVD player. Any suggestions??

The audio settings you have used are probably incompatible with the DVD player and the TV standard in your location, or the source audio for your project was bad. A little more information would be helpful...

Well if you had told us the properties of the files you burnt to DVD - particularly the audio format - we may be able to be more helpful.

Please post the full properties of the DVD files in question.

Sorry here are the settings that I have curently got set up:

I am inserting mp3's or wav files into the show and as I said playback on the computer is fine but on all DVD players I have tried the audio playback sounds all stuttered an jumpy.

Edit File Format: MPEG File

NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
MPEG files
24 Bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Lower Field First
(DVD-NTSC), 4:3

Media Type: NTSC DVD

I have ticked the 'DVD - VR Compliant' Box

Audio Format: MPEG Audio
Audio Type: Mono
Audio Frequency: 48000
Audio Bit Rate: 112 kbps

Any help would be appreciated as this is getting very frustrating.

MPEG audio compatibility is optional on NTSC DVD players. Although, if this was the problem I would expect silence rather than distortion.

The DVD spec says:
- NTSC players must play LPCM and AC3.
- PAL players must play LCPM and MPEG-2 audio.

LPCM should always work, but it will eat-up about 1GB for a 90 minute movie/program.
