Hello, I want to make a menu page of sound bites, where you click on a word and it plays a .wav file. Is that possible in dvd workshop, if not could you tell me a program that can do it? I am creating a dvd of music videos and I wanted a seprate page of just sound bites. here is an example of what I would like to do http://www.ebaumsworld.com/2006/07/tomhanks_sb.html I know it is in flash but just clicking on the words and having it play a sound is just what I want.
Thanks for your help, Matt Nichols[/url]

Note - Anyone trying-out the trial version should be aware that Workshop is probably being phased-out. It hasn't been updated for a couple of years, there is no Vista version, etc. Ulead Movie Factory may work for you, it is less costly, and it is more up-to-date. (There may be a "trick" required to make a text-menu with Movie Factory... I'm not sure...)
(Your link didn't work for me... )
I think Workshop can do what you want.
A regular video-DVD can't have just a WAV file, but you can make a "slide show"... an audio/video file that displays a still image while playing audio... (You can create a solid black-screen "slide" to display along with the audio if that's what you want.) I've never made a slideshow myself, but it is covered in the user manual. (You can download the user-manual, if you haven't already.)
You will be limited to 99 sound bites. A DVD can contain 99 programs with 99 chapters each. But, Workshop can't make a DVD that stops playback at the end of a chapter. So, if you want to go back to the menu after the sound bite plays, each sound bite will have to be it's own program.
You can make a text-only menu. In fact, most of the menus I make are text only. Type the text into a new-blank menu first, and then click and drag the video (or still) into the text. That will turn the text into an active menu-button.

try the new link, I fixed it. I don't want it to go to a new page, I just want to click on the word and it play the wav file just like the ones in the link. If I have to use flash I will. if the only way is to create a slide show, I will.
here is the link again http://www.ebaumsworld.com/2006/07/tomhanks_sb.html

It's easy. Make up your menu and copy it, as a jpg file. Make the same number of "slides" as you have questions using the jpg file. Add the sound you want to each slide and use it as a separate title for each. Drag the title onto the menu, making sure the playlist ends with your menu.
When you click a menu item, it will switch to your slide with sound and back to your menu after the playing time you have set is over. As the slide looks the same as the menu, it should appear seamless.

Whereas this appears that it may be the case, it is nevertheless just speculation.Note - Anyone trying-out the trial version should be aware that Workshop is probably being phased-out. It hasn't been updated for a couple of years, there is no Vista version, etc.

Devil, I don't understand how to make a jpeg file of the menu. Is there a way to show me any example of what you are talking about? DO I make a jpeg of the menu in DVD workshop or in windows?
Thanks for your help.
Thanks for your help.
sound board solution
hey there a simple way to create your soundboard just like ebaums world's site is just like this:
http://www.aaronleestudios.us/heatharwood/003.jpg
http://www.aaronleestudios.us/heatharwood/002.jpg
http://www.aaronleestudios.us/heatharwood/001.jpg
you basically make a lot of copies of the menu then set the sound files as the back ground to only play for the length you choose.
its real simple! I did this example in 5 minutes.
hope this helps
