Vs 10 + Mediastudio 8 comparison

Post by greg mgm »

Does anyone here use both of these programs? I'm wondering if there's a significant difference between the 2. I can read all the specs, but a real world description is what I'm after. Is MS8 worth the extra cost? THANKS!!

The reason I ask is making videos for me is starting to change from being a fun hobby to doing projects for other people. It's still all good fun, though!

They are two different kettle of fish. I have both but only use MSP 8, it's capabilities are far greater, so is it's learning curve. VS10+ is much easier to handle but somewhat limited in what it can do but with work arounds can get close to MSP's abilities.

Any advice you will get here is only going to reflect the users perceptions. It all depends on what you want to do. I would suggest to download both trial versions and get a feel for it myself.

If you are fairly experienced at VS I think you could get around MSP without too much trouble. There certainly is a learning curve, but knowing the basics helps.

I think the biggest choice you have to make is whether the additional cost of MSP is worth the additional features. Seeing as how VS has let me down with their offerings in the new VS11 I am considering, now more than ever, making the jump.

Another thing to consider, however, is whether MSP will continue to be supported by Corel/Ulead. I think the consensus is it will not. That means no support for Vista and whatever else comes down the pike.

OK, thanks for the comments. For sure I'll download the trial and see what I think. That's not encouraging about the lack of support though.
