Will not import DVD

Post by hiddenfeldt »

I can't make MovieFactory to import a DVD or a DVD-folder. I can open the "Import DVD"-window and click on "Title 0", but the import-button remains gray and inactive no matter what I do.
I can play the video in the movie-window, so I don't understand it.

TV-system is PAL.
Ihave the same problem with both version 4.0 and version 6.0 of MovieFactory.

What is wrong?

If your DVD was made with a stand-alone DVD recorder, or with a camera that records directly to DVD, make sure the DVD is "closed" or "finalized". (This is done on the recorder/camera.)

Try copying the DVD to your hard drive before importing it.

If that doesn't work, you can try FixVTS or VOB 2 MPG (both FREE!!!).

If it's a commercial DVD, its copy-protected.

The DVD-folder was made by the following programs:
DVB-T-signal received by Hauppauge HVR-1300 or HVR-4000 HW recorded by www.dvbwiever.com to a video_ts(.ts) file.
Then ts-file->MPEG_Streamclip->ProjectX->Rejig, that makes the DVD folders.
(The reason for ProjectX and Rejig is to make a DDV with subtitles.)

I have also tried with a DVD made by Ulead MovieFactory 4.0. Also in this case the import button remains gray. The DVD plays well in a DVD-player box.

I have not attempted with any comercial DVD.

I wil try your tips asap and return with the result, thanks.

I have now tried with a DVD made by MovieFactory 6.0 itself - negative result. Copying it to the harddrive is also negattive.
I have tried from 2 different drives/burners: ASUS DRW-1608P and PIONEER DVR-112D - also negative result.

Maybe something simple like the drive of your working folder (set in the preferences) has no room? Or you have no permission to write into the working folder? Try a shorter path if it is a long one.

Are we overlooking the obvious.
Did you tick the little box(es) in the left hand column of the chapters you wish to import.

@hiddenfeldt, can you reinstall the software first and be sure that you have Admin privileges to the PC you are working on.

Also, plese try another DVD (closed and not copy protected)

Thanks.

Yes, I overlooked the little checkbox. It works now. Thank you very much for your answers.
