VS10+ menu music error message 18906:2:3

Post by andywaddell »

I'm trying to change the background menu music in VS10+. It comes with a number of MP3 music files; each menu style seems to have one of these MP3s associated with it. I'd like to change the music provided with certain menus, but whenever I pick a different MP3 it tells me "Unable to play file. Error in initialization. 18906:2:3". I get this error both when I want to change to a different VS10-provided MP3, and when, after receiving the error, I try to change back to the original MP3 that was associated with that menu. For example, say a certain menu has a music file "05Music12.mp3" associated with it. I open that menu and hit the button to preview the music (and it plays just fine) but I don't like it. So I click on one of the other MP3s listed and I get the above-mentioned error message. So then I try to put it back the way it was, selecting "05Music12.mp3" again, but now that one WON'T play and I get the error message.

Weird that 1) the MP3s that VS10+ provides/installs on it's own won't work right, and that 2) the default MP3 associated with a menu WILL play the first time you try it, but once you change and then put it back it won't work.

Can anyone assist me in figuring out what's going on here? I've searched this forum and it seems as if all information on the error 18906 subject that's come up before gets the response "MP3s are notorious for being buggy, try changing to WAV or something else". I can't buy that, though, for MP3s that were installed by, and provided with, VS10+. Thanks in advance!
