Capturing Audio

Post by EvilKiwi »

Hi Team,

I am capturing some analog footage which I am converting to digital using my dv camera using the RCA outputs on the analog camera. The analog camera has the video out but only one audio out and as such I am only able to capture one audio channel. Is there a way for me to capture both channels using a special RCA cable other than my standard one from the DV cam using the analog camera or can I feed it though a VCR which may convert both audio channels somehow? The analog footage is 8mm not VHS so I can't just output both channels on a VCR.

I know I could use a Digital 8 cam perhaps but I don't have one of those and short of hiring one to do the job just wondered what my options were using the analog 8mm cam I have.

Thanks

Are you using the correct cable?

When I want to get two channels from my old mono output camcorder I use one of these :-

plug the single end into the camera and the normal red and white RCA leads into the two outputs and then to my computer (or in your case the camcorder) as two channel (not stereo but duplicated mono) sound.

I get mine here :-

to save you searching their website for it the specific adapter is here :-

but I'm sure their available in whichever part of the world you reside.

Thanks Brian - I got myself this adaptor and the sound transfer worked a treat. I knew there was some way to do it just wasn't sure how. :D :D
