Canon HV20 1080 24p

Post by 24Peter »

Has anyone used VideoStudio to edit their HV20 1080 24p footage? The 24p footage requires pulldown removal and so far none of the major video editing software programs have included support for HDV 1080/24p (many support DV 24p). If anyone from Ulead browses these forums I'd love to know if there are plans to support the HV20 HDV 1080/24p files with auto pulldown removal.

This is more the fault of the HV20 then it is the editors. The HV20 lacks the ability to "flag" the pulldown so that an editor can see it in order to remove it. Programs like Vegas will automatically remove pulldown IF it sees a flag.

Programs like Vegas will work with 24p from the HV20... you just need an external capture program that is built for removing flagless pulldown... Cineform HD Link will do this for you.

So back to my original query, I guess it's safe to assume VideoStudio/MediaStudio will not be supporting flagless pulldown of HV20 24p HDV files? See my thinking is, well if Connect HD can do it, why can't everyone else?

24 Peter- I can't help with the camcorder issues, but after looking at your site, you are an awesome photographer. Great work, and darn good looking models!

Well I sure don't mind paying an extra $250.

$1000 for the cam, $250 for cineform... that's $1250 for REAL 24p... What's the complaint???

And the AVI intermediate is a little bigger... but it sure comes out looking nicer!

It would probably make more sense anyway to write canon and tell them to flag the pulldown like everybody else does.
