How to make swirly coloured background video?

There are a number of sites that offer background videos that contain coloured shapes that swirl around the screen, some a little like a kaleidoscope.

Is it possible to make these with MSP 8 and if so, how?

Film a lava lamp with your camera and put it on the timeline. Simple

It's not really what MSP is designed to do, so it's not easy.
