I'm using DMF 4 and when I select the Create Disc Image File option on the burning page the ISO file is not created.
This worked flawlessly with DMF 2 & 3, but not with 3.5.
I have successfully created ISO files on an NTFS partitions in the past with version 2 & 3. These file could then be burned to DVD using DMF or Nero without problem.
Let me state that I am an MCSE and I am quite positive that the partition I am working with IS NTFS AND NOT FAT.
Am I missing something? I do not have an option to create anything other than an ISO file (no native DMF image file).
Creating Disc Image Option Not Producing ISO Image File
test
just to be certain, take a small video (5 minutes or so), create a quick "test" project, and burn the image to your hard drive. Does it create the dvd.iso image? If so, then it could be related to your file system (temp files or something).
Are you using version 4, or 3.5 (I got a little confused). What is MCSE?

I set up a job with a single 500MB DIVX file. DMF encoded the video and created an ISO file without a problem. I'v been testing all night though using the fit to dvd feature and I cannot create ISO files nor the VIDEO_TS folder using DMF options.
Clean install of XP SP2. Using NTFS file system on a dynamic disk.
I installed and tried DMF 2 for giggles and it creates ISO up to 4.38GB witout problem. There has to be something going on here that can be fixed.
Anyone????

When you use the Create Video Disc option to create a ISO image file, does it work? (In your second post you said it worked.) If it does not, any error messages?
As an MCSE, you MUST know that to describe your problem well (better in step by step descriptions) is very important for engineers to find out the problem you have, so please make it clear so people can help you.
Those information should include:
What steps did you do?
What files or what DVD disc did you use and their properties? How do you get them?
The project settings you use in DVDMF?
What version of DVDMF do you use?
And your system spec?
Any error message you got?

Please describe your problem with more information such as what option did you select in the initial screen of DVDMF and what did you do in the next step. Is it Create Video Disc or Copy/Fit to Disc?kildon2002 wrote:I set up a job with a single 500MB DIVX file. DMF encoded the video and created an ISO file without a problem. System:
AMD 2600+ CPU
1GB DDR3200 RAM
60GB 7200 RPM IDE Hard Drive
NVIDIA Chipset Motherboard
Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2
1. I boot Windows and login with an account with administrator rights.
2. I double-click the DMF 4 icon which opens DMF 4 to the main screen.
3. I select Create Video option and open a new and empty project.
4. I click the Add Video button and browse to a local folder that contains AVI files encoded with DIVX 5.2.1.
5. I select the files I want to burn to DVD and add them to the project until I reach 4.38GB or more.
6. I then click next and select the menu options I want for the menu screen layout.
7. I click next again until I get to the burn screen.
8. On the burn screen I uncheck the box next to the option to burn to DVD.
9. I check the box next to the Create Disc Image option and I select a location on the local hard drive to save the ISO image. (The only option is ISO there is not any other file type offered).
10. If the DVD exceeds 4.38GB I click the fit to dvd button that DMF 4 provides.
11. I then click the burn button and wait for 5-6 hours for the video to convert and the DVD to be processed.
12. At the end of the processing DMF tells me that the job completed successfully and offers me the option to return to the main screen or to continue with the current project.
12. I then open the location I chose to save the ISO file and there is no ISO file there.
It is a simple problem to understand. Imagine you are creating a DVD project that is over 4GB in size. Instead of burning the project directly to disc you create an ISO image file to be burned later. DMF goes through all the motions, but does not create the ISO file. I also experimented with the option to create the DVD folders (Video_TS & Audio_TS) and I got the same results, no files. Anything over 4GB and DMF would go through the process, but not create any files. Yet everything works fine if the project is below 4GB in size.
I mentioned before that DMF 2 & 3 did not have this problem. It occurs only with 3.5 and now 4.0.
Is that enough info?

kildon2002,
I normally use DVDit to author and then Nero to burn my DVDs, but since I just upgraded an old version of DMF to version 4, I decided to try both methods with my latest project to see if there was any difference in quality. (The bottom line is that they were pretty much identical, except DMF doesn't give as many flexible options in authoring).
Anyway, the project I created with DMF4 was approximately 1 hr 30 minutes of video divided into 14 chapters. Due to the length, I selected the "fit to disc" option and created an ISO file and had it burn to disc. Both processes were created flawlessly. The ISO file did appear in the folder that I selected. The only interesting thing is that I selected the "burn to disc" and "create ISO file" options prior to clicking the "fit to disc". After I selected "fit to disc" the ISO file option was still checked, but greyed out (so that I couldn't change it).
The bottom line is that on my system, DMF4 works as advertised in creating ISO files. Beyond letting you know that, I don't know why it doesn't work for you.
