Uploading Your Videos to YouTube
Once you're happy with your final result, you'll need to save the video in a format that YouTube can accept in order to upload. Unless you're a professional video producer, we recommend that you save your videos as either QuickTime .MOV, Windows .AVI, or .MPG files¡X these are the most common formats and they work well within our system. We specifically recommend the MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format at 320x240 resolution with MP3 audio. Resizing your video to these specifications before uploading will help your clips look better on YouTube.

The site FILEWIND has been 'offline' for several days - hopefully they will fix it soon. I have now found an almost identical alternative site

Vimeo all the way

I use www.vimeo.com because it allows you to upload HD video and up to 500MB files, free. I use VideoStudio for all my video editing, and then upload it to Vimeo. The quality is the best I have seen for video sharing, especially with the videos that come from the Canon HV20. If you do a search for the tags that include HV20, you will see some amazing videos. This site rocks!!

webcombo,

With HDV and Vimeo, what settings do you use to encode to 720p before uploading? I have used 1280x720, 8000kbps, variable, 29.97fps, frame based MPEG2 video with 128 kbps audio. Seems to work, just curious what you use. MP4, H.264?

I have tried several different ways, and I found a tutorial from a user on the HV20.com website. It involves using Xvid, I believe. Here is a link to her tutorial. But I am still trying other options. Nonetheless, it is still the highest quality video sharing site I have seen!!

Thanks... quality is better and the file size is smaller vs. mpeg2! Let me know if you figure out another way!
