A Bunch of Dolby Questions

Post by turtle »

Hello,

There doesn't seem to be much change in the Dolby 5.1 support - so maybe V10 users can answer this as well. The trial version does not allow Dolby processing so I'm posting my questions here.

I use a tool called DVD Lab Pro to produce DVDs, so all I need from an editing suite is one that can do multiple videos and Dolby Surround. Until I get a new camera, the source material will be SD, 16:9 and stereo. Here are my Dolby Questions.

** Can I create 5.1 content from stereo sources in VS? For this content, can I modify the frequency to create the C, SL, SR, and L channels, e.g., take percentages of L and R channels to create the Center - and so on?
** Can I add content into any channel, e.g., if I have a 30 second clip of an airplane, can I add that clip to the rear channels "only" - as opposed to adding it to the timeline as a clip?
** If you have multiple videos (picture & sound) on the time line, how does the software allow you to edit the 5.1 channels - every clip at the same time, or each clip has it own 5.1 setting? If the latter, how do you make sure the settings for one don't cause the others to be out of whack?
** When you save\export clips with 5.1 sound and in what format can you save them? I specifically need to save the files as elementary streams (MPV, MP2) keeping the 5.1 sound. Is this possible?
** Can you export a soundtrack only using VS, e.g., export only the 5.1 soundtrack of a movie (for lack of a better word). If so, I'm assuming you can export into AC3 format correct?
** Can you import AC3 files (both 2.0 and 5.1) into VideoStudio?

Finally, can someone post a few pictures of what the interface for the Dolby page(s) look like? If you have the time, I'd like to hear any success stories or things you don't like so much about the surround sound modules.

Thanks in advance.
