I am using MSPro8.
When I play the timeline, or even after rendering an AVI, QT or MPEG of my project (I've tried rendering all of them), the first frame of a clip will sometimes pop onscreen right in the middle of a scene. This seems to happen a lot if there has been an overlay clip or crossfade (at the end of the fade the first frame will pop on, then the file will play from the end of the transition). It doesn't matter if the original clips are MPEGs, QTs or AVIs. It happens with any type of source file. What can I do to stop this from happening? It is a very random occurance... the only sure thing is that it will happen at the worst possible moment!
It has happened on 2 machines I tried: a 1.92 GHz Athlon 2600 with 2GB of RAM, & a 2.6Ghz Pentium with 1GB of RAM (both with dedicated HD for video editing)
I can't find anything on Ulead's site, or in the help file.
Random Frames popping up
Haven't seen this, so cannot give you an answer. Two questions, though:
1. Do you see the "extra" frame on the timeline or is it just on playback?
2. If it is just on playback, does it appear with different media players, or just one?

I downloaded and installed the service pack when I bought the program.
I have mainly been using uncompressed AVIs for editing, and then rendering an MPEG-2 for DVD. Could this be the problem (a RAM issue- even though the computer has 2GB)? As I mentioned, it has occured with other formats as well, and when formats are being mixed on the timeline (i.e. QTs edited with MPEG or AVI).
Many times, I do see the "extra" frames on the timeline. It is usually the first frame of the scene, and often I see it in the preview window when playback is paused, so I can't scroll through frames. The correct frames don't appear until I actually start playback, then it reverts to the first frame of the scene when playback is stopped. In fact, the frame will sometimes appear on the timeline at the point playback is paused.
When the file is rendered, the extra frame apears in any media player because it is part of the file. I have opened my rendered file in Womble & removed the odd frames, but I'm worried about audio pops & sync problems (because I don't know if the errant frame replaces the correct frame of the scene).
The entire file is only 2 min 31 sec.
This happened to me when I was using MSPro 6 as well.
