Quite coincidentally, among my collection of DVD burners (I have 5!!), I just happen to have an external high speed LG burner connected via USB 2.0 to a Dell Inspiron 8000, but never get that message.

The message is usually associated with your having selected a burn speed which is too fast for your computer to keep up sending a constant stream of information to it. You don't tell us anything about your computer.

But you could try drastically reducing the burn speed. Just because it is a burner which might burn at up to, say, 16x, and you have blank DVDs which can be burned at 16x, doesn't mean you should burn them at that speed. I have 16x blanks, but with video DVDs at least (in contrast to archive DVDs), I try never to burn at any higher speed than 4x, or if the disc itself will not permit a speed that low, then at 6x.

Burning at a slower speed should not only avoid the underrun error, but should also give the burning laser a better chance of firmly embedding the signal in the disc,. This will in turn enhance the chances that copies of the disc, if you distribute them to friends and family, will play in a wide variety of players.

Anything that you can operate your computer with is a 'Human Interface Device'
Mouse
Keyboard
Remote Control
Joystick

Some of these things connect with a dedicated cable such as a standard keyboard and standard mouse. Other things may connect with a wireless connection, infra red or..... via a USB port.

I am just a little confused about your system information. Do you have one hard disk or two, and if two, are both internal or one external?

VS often operates better if the program file is on one HDD or partition, and the video files it is processing are on another drive or partition. Otherwise, the program has to flick back and forth between the program and the files on the same hard drive, and sometimes may not keep up...

If the video files are on an external hard drive, and you have lots of other devices connected via USB, the external hard drive might not be getting enough of the USB 'bandwidth' to allow it to transmit the information fast enough...
